Jalpari:The Desert Mermaid (2012)

A wealthy family from New Delhi travel to Madhogarh village in Haryana. They all imagine the village to be serene and beautiful with scenic locations all over, but end up seeing only dusty roads with dried up lakes and hostile people who are very unfriendly and agitated. Shreya, who has come to the village after convincing her father a lot is now faced with the total opposite scenery of what she was expecting. Shreya and her brother Sam now make up their mind to befriend people of the village and get to know the place better. As they start exploring the villagers and its culture it gets more and more mysterious. They hear of a scary witch living in the village and a place near the hills that cannot be crossed. As Sam and Shreya learn about the people further they are told mysterious stories by their house maid. Later the sibling follow their maid and her husband who seem to be in a hurry to be somewhere and they are shocked. They also learn that girl children are killed before they are born in the village and it is blamed on the village witch. The movie is directed by Nila Madhab Panda and produced by Sushilkumar Agarwal. The music is composed by Kaustubh Tripathi and Deepak Pandit.
