"Kaadan" (2021) is a Tamil action-adventure film directed and written by Prabhu Solomon and produced under the banner of Eros International. Rana Daggubati and Vishnu Vishal play the lead roles in the film, which explores the deep bond between human beings and nature, particularly the bond one has with elephants. The film was being simultaneously shot in Telugu and Hindi and features an eco-centric plot inspired by the life of real-life forest conservationist Jadav Payeng.

Veerabarathi, alias Kaadan (Rana Daggubati), lives in harmony with the forest and its inhabitants, especially elephants. Being extremely attuned to the nature cycles, Kaadan is depicted as a savior of the jungle, leading a simple life and practicing ecological humility. His simple existence is disrupted by Kurunjinathan (Anant Mahadevan), who is an environment minister with ill motives. He initiates the development process to convert the forest into a high-end township complex with facilities such as a golf course and amphitheatre.

For development purposes, Kurunjinathan's team appoints the services of Maaran (Vishnu Vishal), who is a mahout and his trained kumki elephant Jillu, for handling wild elephants that act as obstacles to development. Maaran, who does not know the hidden meanings behind his actions, supports the project initially. His own opinion does change, however, as he becomes involved with Aruvi (Zoya Hussain), a member of a group which is against the felling of the forest, and learns more about Kaadan's commitment to the preservation of the natural habitat.

Kaadan resists encroachment using both peaceful demonstrations and strategic acts of resistance. Journalist Arundhati (Shriya Pilgaonkar) documents the war, taking on Kaadan's cause. Through rising tensions, the film dramatizes the emotional and bodily conflict between protection and exploitation and highlights the demand for environmental defense.

Set against the luxuriantly green canvas of the forest, Kaadan integrates action and drama to convey a message about ecological equilibrium and long-term supremacy of the co-existence of nature and man.
