Kadathal (2023)

"Kadathal" (2023) is an action thriller film in Tamil directed by Salangai Durai and produced by Sengodan Duraisamy under South Indian Productions. The movie features Damodar, Rai, and Vidisha in the lead. It is about the life of Murugan, a humble palm tree laborer, who gets involved in a risky war without knowing. "Murugan", who resides with his mother "Sivagami", shifts to Madurai to work with his friend Pangali. But everything goes awry when "Pangali" and his gang murder the younger brother of a notorious rowdy, "Madurai Muthu". Rather than the actual perpetrators, the onus is put on Murugan. Before he can establish his innocence, he has to run away as Muthu plans revenge. While Murugan makes his way to Hosur, he encounters yet another friend. Their lives become eventful when they save a kidnapped child from a gang of thugs. Resolving to bring the child back to his parents, Murugan sets off on a perilous journey. His woes, however, are only just beginning, as Madurai Muthu hotly pursues him, convinced that he is his brother's murderer. Murugan now has to defend the child and simultaneously battle to establish his innocence. Surrounded by enemies on all sides, Murugan finds himself in a battle for his life. "Kadathal" is an engaging action thriller full of thrilling chases, emotional scenes, and high-octane confrontations. Though the narrative follows a generic pattern of a wrongly accused hero, the movie entices the viewers with its rapid-fire screenplay and forceful action sequences. Damodar performs well, holding the film with his action hero performance. Despite the film being predictable at times, "Kadathal" provides an enjoyable experience for action thriller fans.
