"Kamali from Nadukkaveri" (2021), directed by Rajasekar Duraisamy, is a moving Tamil drama that focuses on a young girl's journey from a rural village to India's top institution, highlighting the life-changing potential of education. Directed by Abbundu Studios, the movie features Anandhi as Kamali, with Rohit Saraf and Pratap Pothen in key roles.

Kamali Shanmugam, a feisty adolescent from the village of Nadukkaveri, attends school in a Tamil-medium school. Her father values little education for girls, opting to send her brother to study instead. But when Kamali sees an interview of IIT topper Ashwin (Rohit Saraf), she falls in love not just with him but with the dream of attending IIT Madras. Her announcement frightens her traditional father, who threatens her that if she fails, she will be married off.

In spite of a problematic past with Professor Arivudainambi (Pratap Pothen), Kamali asks for his mentorship. The professor is initially scornful but is touched by her determination and decides to guide her. With dedication and perseverance, Kamali clears the IIT entrance exam, which surprises her family and village.

Kamali has a tough time adjusting in IIT. Her roommate is cruel, and Kamali's naively possessive attitude towards Ashwin makes her the laughing stock. When she flunks her semester exams and gets the brutal nickname 'Cinderella,' she goes home with her head hung low. But she is encouraged by Professor Arivudainambi to pursue her goal.

Kamali comes back stronger, with her focus on studies and developing a genuine friendship with her roommate. They join an inter-IIT quiz competition together. In Delhi, Kamali emerges as the winner of the contest, earning respect from her colleagues and pride from Nadukkaveri village. During the journey back, a friendly interaction with Ashwin indicates mutual respect. Kamali is the pride of Nadukkaveri, an icon of hope, courage, and the power of a girl's dreams.
