“Kanguva” is a 2024 Tamil fantasy action film written and directed by Siva and produced by Studio Green and UV Creations. The film features Suriya, Bobby Deol, and Disha Patani and interweaves two timelines: 1070 and 2024: investigating the enigmatic connection between a contemporary bounty hunter and an ancient tribal warrior.
Francis Theodore, a skilled bounty hunter in Goa, meets Zeta, a young boy who has escaped from a Russian biomedical lab, in 2024. Zeta, with some uncommon powers, is being hunted by a powerful commander named Ryan. While searching for refuge, Zeta starts creating tribal symbols from history, and hallucinations begin in Francis's mind regarding a life he does not remember.
Flashback to 1070, as the film follows Kanguva "Kanga," a brutal tribal warrior who vows to protect Poruva, a child in his charge. Roman invaders join forces with a rival tribe to attack Kanga's territory when he puts it up for defense, and betrayal and war join forces to plot Poruva's senseless death. Kanga makes it a promise that in his next lifetime, he will guard Poruva no matter what.
In the current time, Francis comes to know that he is Kanga reborn, and Zeta is Poruva's reincarnation. As Francis begins to discover his past life, Ryan turns out to be the reincarnation of Rathaangasan, Kanga's arch-nemesis, now bent on arresting both Francis and Zeta.
With mind-blowing visuals, hardcore action, and an engaging story, Kanguva combines history, fantasy, and sci-fi in a new and exciting manner. Suriya's performance and the emotional depth of the film make it an engaging film to watch. Although the screenplay is intricate, the action sequences and dramatic moments keep the audience engaged till the very end.
