Kothapallilo Okappudu (2025)

Kothapallilo Okappudu (2025) is a Telugu-language comedy-drama directed by Praveena Paruchuri and presented by Rana Daggubati’s Spirit Media. Starring Manoj Chandra, Monika T and Usha Bonela. It follows a carefree youth whose love story intertwines with a chain of events that shake the beliefs of an entire village. The tale is set in the idyllic village of Kothapalli, where the character Ramakrishna works for the dreaded moneylender Appanna. He is head-over-heels in love with Savitri, and his friend Andham is secretly working to help the two connect. One of these secret rendezvous takes place at a nearby haystack, which results in elaborate comic mishaps that soon become fodder for gossip around the village. Politics, caste, and personal rivalries influence their daily lives. Appanna has been at odds with Reddy, the powerful village chief, adding to the background drama and conflict. When Appanna unexpectedly passes away and gains the villagers' respect, it marks a significant turning point. This posthumous reverence shifts the social order, with Ramakrishna caught in the middle of power struggles, religious fervour, and shifting loyalties. As superstition and truth collide, Ramakrishna must navigate the blurred lines between devotion, opportunism, and justice, ultimately forcing the community to confront its contradictions. Released in theatres on 18 July 2025, Kothapallilo Okappudu combines witty satire, engaging performances and lush cinematography to offer a vibrant slice-of-life story.
