“Krishnamma” is an action drama movie in the Telugu language directed by V. V. Gopala Krishna and produced by Koratala Siva. The movie stars Satya Dev, Athira Raj, and Laxman Meesala and is based on friendship, crime, and redemption.
Based in the streets of Vinchipeta, Vijayawada, the narrative revolves around three orphans: Bhadra (Satya Dev), Koti (Laxman Meesala), and Shiva (Krishna Teja Reddy). Although not blood relatives, their strong relationship makes them best friends. Raised in poverty, they live by committing small crimes, but their lives take different turns when Shiva is imprisoned at a tender age.
On release from jail, Shiva reformats and enters into a printing business. But Bhadra and Koti don't leave their crime-filled lives behind. When the trio is in critical need of cash, they scheme one last operation, anticipating a brighter future ahead. But nothing goes right, and it creates a chain reaction of events which prove disastrous for them and also challenge their fraternity and push them to confront the cruel reality of their decisions.
The film manages on strong performances, especially that of Satya Dev, who brings depth to the character of Bhadra. His act brings together aggression and vulnerability, and thus his makeover becomes interesting. The lead three's chemistry provides emotional intensity, which emphasizes the central theme of loyalty in the film.
While the storyline takes familiar crime drama tropes, its execution holds the attention of the viewers. The director creates tension in a slow-burning manner to a climactic ending. The movie is sluggish in parts in the first half, though, which impacts the pace. However, “Krishnamma” presents a gritty and poignant survival story, betrayal, and redemption that is a gripping experience for viewers who enjoy intense dramas.
