Mad Square

“Mad Square” is a recently released Telugu language independent action comedy film directed and scripted by Kalyan Shankar. A follow up to the 2023 smash success Mad, this can’t miss film features the return of the original dysfunctional family, Sangeeth Sobhan, Narne Nithin, Ram Nitin, and Priyanka Jawalkar, who take audiences on another side-splitting, mad-cap adventure.

Set four years later than the first, the movie starts off with Ganesh “Laddu” incarcerated. As curious students come to see him in jail, he is forced to tell them the story of how he ended up in this predicament. DD is in the midst of his campaign to become Sarpanch, Ashok is caught up in a familial land dispute, and Manoj is working as a bartender and coping with lost love. Laddu is getting married.

Disaster strikes, when at the last minute, Laddu’s bride Pooja elopes. Devastated, Laddu almost loses the will to live until his friends persuade him to go on a vacation to Goa to come back. During their time in Goa, the group enjoys themselves. Events go off the rails when Laddu’s father shows up at the resort and catches his son with another woman. As soon as they start to figure it out, they’re kidnapped by a gangster named Maxx who blackmails them into finding a stolen necklace tied to one of his crew’s earlier jewel heists.

What happens next is an exhilarating ride: hotel hijinks, case of the wrong hotel guest, police uniforms out of central casting and epic getaways. With the assistance of their college senior Anthony, the group finds Laila, the owner of the necklace. Amidst all the confusion, it’s revealed that Ashok is a secret IPS officer, who finally catches Maxx and his gang red-handed.

Yet one last twist finds Laddu embroiled in another hilarious predicament, landing him back in the slammer, setting the stage for even more laugh-out-loud moments and shocking turns. Mad Square is a fresh and funny film adventure full of action and friendship.
