“Maha” is a Tamil crime thriller film written and directed by U. R. Jameel and produced by V. Mathialagan under the production company Etcetera Entertainment. Hansika Motwani is featured in the main role with Srikanth, Manasi Kottachi, and Silambarasan in a cameo appearance.

The movie traces the life of “Maha” (Hansika), a single mother whose life is turned around when her young daughter Aishu disappears. The movie begins with a flashback of Maha and her boyfriend, “Malik” (Silambarasan), who is subsequently presumed dead in a plane crash. Maha is left to bring up her daughter on her own. Shortly, a series of child kidnappings and killings rock the city, and Maha's own daughter is the next victim.

ACP “Vikram” (Srikanth) and constable Alex Pandian help investigate the heinous crimes. The killer eradicates every evidence, leaving no trace other than eerie patterns. In the meantime, Maha gets fed up with the slow progress and begins to investigate by herself. She discovers inconsistencies in the CCTV footage regarding her daughter's vanishing and uncovers vital clues that the police have missed.

In a twist, Alex's granddaughter gets kidnapped, which culminates in a sting operation where the killer gets apprehended. The unexpected twist reveals that Alex himself is the masked man. It's revealed through flashbacks that Alex attempted to cover up the crime of his son, Matthew. Aishu had died accidentally inside Matthew's vehicle, and Alex had tried to conceal the fact.

Finally, Maha follows Matthew to his store, realizes the truth, and confronts him. In the ultimate confrontation, she kills Matthew just in time when Vikram reaches there.

“Maha” merges emotional drama with a crime thriller setup. Hansika is decent as a sorrowful yet steadfast mother. There are tense moments and emotional substance in the movie, but at times the plot is unbalanced. Nonetheless, Maha captivates audience members with its twists and sentimental core.
