Maya is an attractive and smart girl living with her father in a village. When her father’s heath suffers she calls doctor Charu to treat him. Dr. Charubegind to fall in love with her and so does she. Soon the two get married and begin a happy life. Soon Charu gets busy with his doctor’s duties and she feels neglected and alone. That’s when she meets a young and dashing man named Rudra and they begin an affair. Soon she is bored of it and meets a much younger man named Lalit and is attracted to him. Time passes by and Maya is still unsatisfied with her life. She begins to spend an exorbitant amount of money on clothes and furniture to a point where she has to borrow money for it. She also mortgages her house to Lalaji.
Soon enough Lalit and Rudra leave her and she takes to drinking a strange potion that is advertised on the streets to grant a wish. She however mysteriously disappears after drinking it and the cops start an investigation to find what happened to Maya. The film is directed and produced by Ketan Mehta. The star cast includes Shahrukh Khan, Deepa Sahi, Farooque Shaikh,Raj Babbar, Raghubir Yadav, Paresh Rawal, Satyadev Dubey, Shreeram Lagoo and Sudha Shivpuri.
