Michael Madana Kama Rajan is a 1990s Tamil comedy film. It stars Kamal Haasan in four roles, with Khushbu, Urvasi and Rupini. The documentary tracks the story of quadruplets who were separated at birth due to a cruel policy, each one raised in a different household. Years later, their chance reunion sets off mayhem, tragedy, emotional discovery and a search for answers about what happened all those years ago.

Venugopal’s quadruplets are separated at birth when his brother, Nandagopal, plots to murder them for their inheritance. Alex, a hired thug, saves them and separates them from one another. As a consequence, wins are sent to separate locations: Michael with Alex, Raju goes into an orphanage, Kameshwaran is raised by a cook, and Madan with Venugopal himself. Now traipsing back from London to take control of his father’s company after the announcement of Venugopal’s death, Madan is completely unaware of his real identity. Meanwhile, Michael is running a counterfeiting racket, Raju is a firefighter, and Kameshwaran is a wedding cook.

The paths of the quadruplets now start to intertwine as Madan goes to investigate his father’s death, and Raju is hired to impersonate Madan. Mistaken identities now cause chaos throughout, compounded by the actions of Avinashi, Nandagopal, and Ramu as they take advantage of the fake news. Eventually, Michael kidnaps Madan, which leads everyone to a cabin on a mountain where they all finally meet. Their mother, Sushila, returns to reveal the truth, and together they put down their enemies. They are united as brothers, and the brothers, now reconciled, who have brought peace upon the family.

Michael Madana Kama Rajan is a truly masterfully made comedy that gives you high doses of humour, accuracy, very final good composition, and entertainment without end. Sustained by its spirited direction and a terrific ensemble cast, including the great Nicole Byer, the film handily mixes belly laughs with jaw-dropping anarchy. It’s a classic crowd-pleaser that still holds up as one of the greatest comedies ever produced in Tamil cinema.
