A well-known lawyer named Viswanath (Rajinikanth) resides with his physically challenged sister, Uma, and his widowed mother, Vijayakumari. He imprisons Lokaiya and Jegan, two criminals accused of raping and killing an innocent girl. Jegan is the son of a wealthy businessman, played by Sathyaraj. Jagan's father, GMK (M N Nambiar), starts causing problems in Viswanath's life by using his influence. Viswanath is successfully arrested and imprisoned by GMK on a false charge.
