Synopsis

"Naanum Oru Azhagi" is a romantic drama directed and produced by K. Pozhikkarayan, starring K. Arun, J. Magna, and S. Rajadurai. The film portrays the inspiring life of a woman who fights against the humiliation and oppression of society. “Arun”, an unemployed college graduate living in the town of “Cheranmadevi”, is in love with “Meghna”. Both of them share the vision of living a future together, but life is different. One day, while Arun is away on a search for a job, Meghna gets suddenly married off to Rajadurai by the villagers. Years go by, and Meghna's marriage is a nightmare. When she does not have any children after five years, her husband ejects her from his house, falsely blaming her as a "slut." Brokenhearted and humiliated, Meghna comes back to her mother's place, searching for comfort. But soon she gets an even more shocking experience: she learns she is pregnant. Rather than sympathy, Meghna is gossiped about and treated brutally in her village. The women shame her, questioning her character, and her husband, Rajadurai, becomes violent, trying to silence her forever. Meghna understands that she needs to stand up for herself, not just for herself but for all the oppressed women. While struggling with the social norms and her own tragedies, Meghna embarks on a quest of self-discovery and empowerment. Will she succeed in clearing her name and regaining her dignity? Can she save her unborn child from the ruthlessness of the world? A touching tale of bravery, injustice, and tolerance is "Naanum Oru Azhagi". It goes against social norms that muzzle women and denies the belief that a woman's worth lies in being a bride or a mother. The emotionally moving and introspective themes of the movie dish out a strong message on women empowerment and upholding dignity.
