Nalla Perai Vaanga Vendum Pillaigale (2024)

“Nalla Perai Vaanga Vendum Pillaigale” is a Tamil comedy film directed by Prasath Ramar, stars Senthur Pandian, Poornima Ravi, Preethy Karan, and Suresh Mathiyalagan. The movie is about a young man who plans to surprise a girl on her birthday by visiting her home. They pass the day with their friends, having light moments. As the day progresses, their relationship is put to the test in ways they never imagined. The movie begins with an interesting premise and leaves the viewer wondering where the movie is headed. But as the story moves forward, the plot becomes muddled. Even when the main duo takes a bicycle ride at the midpoint of the movie, the audience has no idea what the movie is about. One of the biggest problems with the film is its unsteady and uneven plot. Scenes change abruptly, cutting away from the main characters to arbitrary moments involving background characters. For instance, rather than stay with the protagonists as they exit a restaurant, the camera turns to a waiter washing dishes. Although this device could be used to add depth if done well, it feels out of place and poorly done. Even with some assured performances, “Nalla Perai Vaanga Vendum Pillaigale” doesn't work in terms of telling a story. The movie tries to capture realities of the everyday but can't offer a clear direction, confounding viewers even after the movie ends.
