“Netrikkan” is a drama film made in Tamil cinema, directed by S. P. Muthuraman, released in 1981. It has Rajinikanth in a dual role along with Saritha, Lakshmi, Menaka and Vijayashanti. The film follows Businessman Chakravarthy, who's a notorious womaniser. When confronted by his son about himself, Chakravarthy runs away to Hong Kong, where he commits an atrocious act, raping a young girl. Upon return to India, he is faced with a shocking revelation that he never expected.

Chakravarthy is a wealthy textile businessman in Coimbatore who often flirts with women and doesn't respect his family. His wife Meenakshi, son Santosh, and daughter Sangeetha live with him. Santosh strongly disapproves of his father's behaviour and tries to stop him. Radha applies for a job as a Public Relations Officer at Chakravarthy's company and gets selected. She is sent to Hong Kong for training. Chakravarthy, annoyed by Santosh's interference, decides to take a holiday in Hong Kong too. There, he meets Radha and assaults her.

After returning to India, Chakravarthy is shocked to find many changes in his company. The new general manager is Radha. She has secretly partnered with Santosh because she wants revenge on Chakravarthy for what he did to her. Radha and Santosh partnered to make Chakravarthy pay for his bad behaviour and to shine the light on him. They have successfully brought Chakravarthy to a point where he gets to see what he has done. He eventually changes his ways, becomes a better person, and reforms his behaviour.

“Netrikkan” successfully interweaves family discord with strong social issues. Rajinikanth is double cast, and explores forgiveness and justice through a thrilling generation of the narrative. Some strong performances, an interesting plot, and tackles a range of ethical issues stemming from our behaviours. Importantly, the scenes appeared emotional to viewers, and with a strong dramatic narrative, it makes it a significant classic with audiences, using its long-lasting story and emotional message.
