Directed by Dhamodharan, “Pagadai Panirendu” is a martial arts film released in 1982. It stars Kamal Haasan, Sripriya,Kanchana and R. N. Sudarshan. The plot of the movie revolves around Anand, a journalist who happens to possess a microfilm exposing the terrible crimes of a dangerous underworld gang. Eventually, the gang sends a woman to either trick Anand into giving up the microfilm or steal it from him. When that doesn't work, the gang gets violent and terrorises Anand with their violence against the people Anand loves.

Anand is a fearless journalist and a martial artist. Anand is also in love with Usha, who is getting declared a traitor by Anand, getting the microfilm that exposes the crimes of a dangerous underworld leader and kingpin, Dais. After the gang finds out about Anand and the microfilm, they begin to chase Anand everywhere to get it back. Renuka, one of the gang members, tries to trick Anand by befriending him, but Anand remains clever and does not fall for Renuka's trickery.

Usha leaves home because her father doesn't approve of her relationship with Anand and soon she becomes a target of Dais and his gang, who want to intimidate her into giving them the microfilm. Anand's friend Vishnu falls under the gang's plans, leading to further trouble. Things go sideways when Anand learns his martial arts teacher is one of Dais's associates. Although betrayed and with many dangers ahead, Anand fights bravely, destroys the gang, gets the microfilm, and saves those he loves.

"Pagadai Panirendu" is marked by rapid sequences, emotional intensity, and a throwback to the basic elements of 80s movie-making. Though it is heavy on suspense and physical action, it will engage the viewer through the frenetic choreography of combat, the higher stakes of the story, and variety between key moments. The speed and plot shifts give the film a tantalising energy, the emotional dynamics add substance. This film encapsulates just about everything a person could want in an old-school action thriller.
