"Partner" is a 2023 Indian Tamil-language science-fiction crime comedy film directed and written by Manoj Damodharan in his directorial debut. The film is produced by Goli Surya Prakash under the banner of Royal Fortuna Creations. Aadhi Pinisetty, Hansika Motwani, and Yogi Babu play the lead roles, while Pallak Lalwani, Pandiarajan, Robo Shankar, and John Vijay appear in supporting roles. The film has a mix of crime, comedy, and sci-fi in a light-hearted entertainer.

The plot starts with "Sridhar" (Aadhi Pinisetty), a man in deep financial trouble. Desperate, he approaches his childhood friend Kalyan (Yogi Babu), who turns out to be a professional thief. Taking a chance, Sridhar and Kalyan join together for a dangerous task to steal a secret chip from a scientist's laboratory. The chip is meant to be highly powerful and worth a lot, and they plan to sell it and claim it solves their financial problems.

But things get out of hand when a freak lab experiment causes Kalyan to undergo a bizarre transformation: he becomes a woman (Hansika Motwani). This unexpected change of sex sets off a series of wild and humorous events. The two must now find a way to reverse the transformation, cope with the scientist, evade the criminals involved, and still try to fix their financial situation.

Although "Partner" has an interesting sci-fi premise with a decent comedic and dramatic vibe built right in, it falls flat on the execution. Certainly, the gender flip brought some newness to the film, but a lot of the gags felt contrived and the plot lacked depth. Though there are efforts to balance comedy and science fiction, the film fails to find a balance between the two. Aadhi, Yogi Babu, and Hansika's excellent performances mask the film's shortcomings, particularly in the second half. Partner has some laughs and some good time, but it falls short to be a full-fledged sci-fi comedy.
