Synopsis

Phule is one of the recently released movies of the biographical-drama genre. Its story is about the freedom-fighter couple, namely Mahatma Jyotirao Phule, who is known as Jyotiba Phule, and his beloved wife, Savitribai Phule. The story is set against the backdrop of nineteenth-century’s India, that is a period wherein the social hierarchies are quite rigid and the prejudices are deeply seated. The story starts with Jyotiba Phule, who is a pioneering social activist and anti-caste reformer who has purely dedicated his life to dismantle the oppressive structures of the untouchability rooted in the deeply entrenched caste system. Further, it highlights his visionary efforts in order to challenge the status quo while advocating for the societal changes that prioritized human dignity above all. Later, Savitribai Phule stood with him as a equal partner in his revolutionary endeavors, particularly in championing the cause of women’s education and extending learning opportunities for the marginalized and the oppressed communities. What will happen further? Will they both be able to resolve these societal issues? What difficulties will they face in this journey? This is one of the recent movie releases that has entertained the audiences through its drama, thrill and suspense with the historical visuals set in the backdrop of a historical storyline.
