"Raangi" (2022) is an action thriller film in the Tamil language directed by M. Saravanan and produced by Lyca Productions. Trisha Krishnan plays the role of Thaiyal Nayagi, a fearless investigative journalist, with Bekzod Abdumalikov and Anaswara Rajan in supporting roles. The plot is about cybercrime, global terrorism, and a woman's battle against injustice.

"Thaiyal Nayagi" (Trisha) works with an online news portal which is well known for showing the bad face of corruption and fighting for justice. Her life turns around when she finds out that a false Facebook account was created with her niece Sushmitha's (Anaswara) name. Further inquiry brings her to the finding that men were messaging the impersonal account, including one named "Aalim" (Bekzod Abdumalikov), a suspected Libyan terrorist. Though most men are duped and accosted, Aalim's story entraps Thaiyal.

While tracing Aalim's online footsteps, Thaiyal finds herself entangled in a bribery scandal between an Indian minister and uses Aalim's assistance to reveal it. However, by doing so, she triggers a series of violent events. Aalim's own terrorist organization Abu Farooq targets Sushmitha to take revenge on her. Thaiyal is arrested but sends a secret message to Aalim to be rescued. Aalim dispatches his men to rescue her and kill the bribe-taking inspector.

Thaiyal develops an understanding of the emotional and traumatic history of Aalim. Notwithstanding that he is a terrorist, he reveals himself emotionally and shows another side to Thaiyal. The FBI then compels her to travel to Libya and organize a meeting with Aalim. In the ensuing chaos, Aalim is betrayed and murdered while defending Sushmitha. On his deathbed, he confesses his love for Thaiyal.

"Raangi" blends emotion, action, and social concerns into a high-octane thriller. Trisha Krishnan carries the film with her forceful performance. While the plot overextends credibility at times, the film makes a courageous attempt at showing the human side of war. It's suspenseful, surprising, and gives the genre a new twist.
