Rajakanyaka (2025) is a fantasy thriller film by director Victor Adam. It features Athmeeya Rajan, Victor Adam, Bhagath Manuel and Asha Aravind. The film is about Kanya, a compassionate village girl, and Victor, a travelling storyteller, who set out to uncover the truth behind a long-lost sacred crown hidden beneath their church. As they journey with Bhagath and Guruvamma, they awaken a forgotten legend that brings healing and unity to their divided village.
Rajakanyaka takes place in the tranquil village of Samudragiri, which is believed to be in an old tale about a sacred crown that was once blessed by Mother Mary. For generations, villagers have waited for someone who is pure-hearted to exist and bring the Crown back to the community, thus, they can have hope again. Kanya, a sweet-spirited, curious and inquisitive young woman, finds a hidden map while helping out at the village church. She soon partners with Victor, a wandering storyteller, and Bhagath, a news reporter looking for a real story. Although their convictions are different, they embark on a journey to uncover the truth behind the crown.
They encounter many obstacles: secret tunnels underneath the church, odd visions, and fear from people who want the crown to stay hidden from the world. Guruvamma, the village elder (played by Ramesh Kottayam), eventually tells them that Kanya is connected to the crown’s past through her family. Together, they return the crown to the church with a special ceremony. As Kanya set the crown before the statue of Mother Mary, peace returned to the village. Old wounds of the past began to heal, and as a village, the people of Samudragiri were united again. The legend of Rajakanyaka, the royal daughter of faith, finally had the rightful ending.
Rajakanyaka is a deeply emotional and visually grounded experience that leaves a gentle imprint on the heart. It unfolds with a quiet grace, letting the mood and small details do the work. There is a spiritual warmth throughout, and it feels more like a feeling than a show. What you take with you after the show is just as important as what you watch.
