Ramam Raghavam (2024)

“Ramam Raghavan” is a 2025 Telugu thriller written and directed by Dhanraj Koranani and produced by Pruthvi Polavarapu under Slate Pencil Stories. The film stars Samuthirakani, Dhanraj Koranani, and Harish Uthaman and tells the story of a tragic father-son relationship with betrayal, redemption, and sacrifice. The backdrop is Amalapuram, a small town in the Konaseema district, where "Dasarath Ramam", a sincere government employee, is famous for his sincerity and honesty. He never accepts bribes and follows stern moral values. But his son Raghava is the exact opposite. Raghava has a bad habit of gambling, betting, and spending lavishly since childhood, and accumulates enormous debts. Despite Ramam's strict discipline and incessant efforts at reforming him, Raghava will never change. He signs his father's name on government documents out of his desperation for easy money. This action destroys Ramam's impeccable reputation, besmirching him as corrupt. Ramam cannot stand the shame and expels Raghava from the house. Angered and blinded by greed, "Raghava" hatches a ghastly plan: he suggests that he kill his own father so that he could inherit his government position, insurance compensation, and family wealth. He believes that if Ramam is eliminated, his life will be in order. Ramam, however, discovers about his son's intention. Instead of retaliating, he makes the ultimate sacrifice: he commits suicide, believing that his demise will ensure Raghava a better life. When Ramam dies, Raghava is shattered and filled with remorse. He comes to know the extent of his father's love and sacrifice, but it's too late. Filled with regret, he wants to be born again as his father's sandal, indicating how he wants to tread in his father's footsteps and be his servant for eternity. With its tight plot, rich emotions, and melodrama in excess, “Ramam Raghavan” is a thinker's thriller on family, morality, and redemption. The movie conveys a strong message on the futility of taking wrong turns and the unstoppable love between a father and son.
