Siruthai

“Siruthai” (2011) is a Tamil action-comedy film directed by Siva, starring Karthi in dual roles, along with Tamannaah Bhatia and Santhanam. The film follows Rocket Raja, a small-time thief, who unexpectedly finds himself caring for a little girl who believes he’s her father, leading him to a dangerous past filled with crime and justice.

Rocket Raja, a happy-go-lucky masterthief from Chennai who lives with his bird-like partner Kaatu Poochi, roams freely and is living life to the fullest. All that changes when a young girl named Divya shows up on his doorstep, declaring him her dad. Raja is made to look after her, and initially, in his efforts to repel her, he begins to connect with her over time. In the process, Swetha, the woman Raja falls for, misinterprets the situation and takes a leave from his life. The real trouble begins when deadly goons target Raja, thinking him to be Rathnavel Pandian IPS, Divya’s actual father, and Raja’s lookalike. Rathnavel, a resourceful officer, jumps in to save them but is mortally wounded in the process. At the hospital, we finally learn the truth: Rathnavel was fighting a fight against a tyrant MLA called Bhavuji in the village of Devipur. He attempted to deliver justice, but political machinations and treachery almost ended his life.

After Rathnavel is killed, Raja has to step in for him and promises to finish his mission. Now disguised as the officer, he goes back to Devipur to defeat Bhavuji and his pose. Through clever plant power and courageous action, Raja incinerates Bhavuji’s poaching operations and sparks a movement that unites the village to reclaim their homeland. Only when Swetha finds out the truth does she forgive Raja and marry him so they can raise Divya together. Raja overcomes and kills Bhavuji, who along with Bhadra kidnapped Swetha and Divya. Now that justice has been served, he is moving forward, leaving the past behind and building a new life for himself and his family.

“Siruthai” blends comedy, action, and sentiment with an entertaining double-role performance by Karthi. The emotional bond between Raja and Divya adds heart to the story and engaging twists. The mass appeal, catchy dialogues, and thrilling climax make it a solid entertainer for family audiences.
