Then Sindhuthe Vaanam

Then Sindhudhe Vaanam (1975) is a romantic mystery drama by the director Ra. Sankaran. Features Sivakumar, Kamal Haasan, Jayachitra and Rani Chandra. Raja is a hardworking young man who runs a fishing business in a peaceful coastal village. He lives with his younger sister, Rama, and is known for being protective and serious. One day, Ravi, a cheerful photographer from the city, visits the village to capture its natural beauty and vibrant traditions. During a local festival, Ravi meets Lalli, a graceful folk dancer, and is instantly drawn to her. Raja is wary of Ravi at first, thinking he might bring trouble. But when Rama falls seriously ill, Ravi uses his knowledge and quick thinking to help her get better. Slowly, Raja begins to trust him.

Ravi and Lalli's relationship continues to flourish as they hang out, swap stories, and talk about their dreams. One night, villagers notice some things go missing from their temple, and Ravi is quickly found to be the guilty party. Hurt but wanting to prove his innocence, Ravi begins looking for the true culprit, and Lalli helps him. Eventually, they discover the true thief is a local man who was jealous of the bonds Ravi had forged with the villagers. Once the truth came out, Raja apologised to Ravi and admitted he is a good man after all. In the end, Ravi and Lalli marry and have the blessings of the whole village, and so serotonin returns to the coast once again.
