“Thiru Manickam” is a 2024 Tamil drama film directed by Nandha Periyasamy, stars Samuthirakani, Ananya, Bharathiraja, Nassar, and Thambi Ramaiah. The movie revolves around Manickam, an honest lottery shop owner, whose virtue is put to test when destiny hands a winning ticket to him.

“Manickam” and his wife “Sumathi”, and their two daughters live a humble life. Sumathi is facing financial problems and borrows ₹6 lakhs from SI Rajendran, and the family is about to be evicted from their shop. One day, an old man chooses a lottery ticket but finds he has lost his money. Manickam puts the ticket aside, only to find later that it is a winner of ₹1.5 crore.

Though his wife and brother-in-law try to persuade him to pocket the money, Manickam is adamant on going to Idukki and returning the money to the rightful owner. His trip to Idukki is one of obstacles; bent cops, scheming relatives, and even theft. SI Rajendran and his corrupt friends attempt to thwart him, but by laying false charges. Manickam's wife and daughter beg him to come back home.

En route, Manickam reminisces about his childhood when a gentle lottery vendor, Bhai, forgave his error and instilled in him a sense of honesty. Goaded by this flashback, he conquers every hurdle and ultimately surrenders the ticket, rescuing the pregnant daughter of the old man from disaster.

Manickam's honesty becomes viral news, and he is lauded by the Kerala Chief Minister. His wife is given a government job, his daughter's medical and educational expenses are paid for, and the family is given a new house. The old man constructs a hospital with the prize money, showing that kindness and honesty can still transform lives.
