"Tourist Family" (2025) is a Tamil drama movie produced, written, and directed by Abishan Jeevinth. The film features M. Sasikumar, Simran, Mithun Jai Sankar, and Kamalesh Jagan. The film tells the story of an Eelam Tamil family escaping Sri Lanka amidst the economic crisis and coming to India with dreams of starting anew, only to encounter new hardships in a new country.

Dharmadas “Das” (Sasikumar), his wife Vasanthi (Simran), and their sons Nithushan (Mithun) and Mulli (Kamalesh) leave Jaffna and enter Tamil Nadu via Rameswaram with help from Vasanthi’s brother, Prakash (Yogi Babu). Detained at first by police officer Bhairavan, they are released when young Mulli softens him with a puppy he finds. The family hides their Sri Lankan identity and settles in a Chennai colony, pretending to be from Kerala. Das functions as a driver, attempting to remain incognito. In the meantime, a bomb explosion in Rameswaram urges ACP Balwan Singh (Ramkumar Prasanna) to initiate a stern investigation. Das's visibility near the explosive zone creates suspicion, but Bhairavan saves the family owing to his increasing attachment towards them. Relations get strained as Nithushan fails to adapt, and a little misunderstanding brings out secrets of the association of a neighbour, impacting the colony's dynamics.

Das comes to the aid of a mourning widow, Mangaiyarkarasi (Sreeja Ravi), and subsequently assists a wayward youth, gradually gaining the esteem of society. When Mangaiyarkarasi passes away, the whole colony gathers for her funeral rites. But suspicion crops up once more when a complaint is registered against the disappearance of the puppy. Balwan focuses on the family as the colony looks into revelations of their history. In a dramatic moment, Bhairavan rescues them from the clutches of the authorities. The people of Kesava Nagar come forth in support of Das and his family in their fight for the very change that signals the shifting of community attitude.

"Tourist Family" is a touching new film that inhabits migration, identity, and human connection. Powered by solid performances, particularly of Sasikumar and Simran, and tearful moments supported by a realist screenplay, the film deals with issues of today. Though it travels at a leisurely pace, it's one of the finest films to watch for those who enjoy emotional, socially conscious storytelling.
