"Va Varalam Va” is a 2023 Tamil drama-comedy directed by Suresh Babu R. and L. G. Ravichandhar. Starring Balaji Murugadoss and Mahana Sanjeevi, the film is a blend of suspense and humor with a different twist to a very old story.

The film is about a young fellow played by Balaji Murugadoss who is eager to turn his life into one of luxurious spending and eliminate his economic sufferings.". But, instead of going the conventional way, he plots a far-fetched scheme, kidnapping 40 children on a bus with the help of his friends to demand ransom. Though they at first perceive it as an easy and quick ticket to wealth, their plans in this madcap escapade assume unforeseen twists and side splitting moments. As the novice felons see their doomed crime escapade spin out of control, the movie is a humorous mix of comedy, mystery and moving moments.

Capitalizing on the excitement of retro comedy, Va Varalam Va holds the audience's attention through its feisty dialogue and surprise twists. Though the idea of a kidnapping-for-ransom story may be a turn-off, the film blankets it with a light-hearted spin, similar to Baby's Day Out, so that the audience is entertained along with curiosity as to what happens next.

Balaji Murugadoss' timing for action and comedy scenes is excellent, and one can see that he can also be a lead actor. Mahana Sanjeevi and Deepa Shankar have good performances with a lot of fun that also lend a nice touch of fullness to the comedy aspect of the film. Redin Kingsley, who is famous for his offbeat characters, is also extremely funny.

Va Varalam Va is a welcome respite from the usual romantic thrillers as it has a great combination of comedy, suspense, and high-energy performances. It is a good comedy thriller, and the movie keeps the viewer engaged with laughter and suspense till the very end.
