Vaitarani is an upcoming bilingual supernatural horror-thriller (Telugu & Hindi) directed and co-written by Akhil Babu, with screenplay contributions from Abhijeeth Pandre. The producers, A.R. Kanthalakshmi and R. Ramesh Babu, featured Rashmi Gautam, Viharsh Yadavalli, and Rama Rao Jadhav with a supporting cast playing important roles. The film is inspired by a popular viral real-life footage horror experience that we think viewers will find emotionally disturbing.

The script centres around a family, a man, a wife, and three children, as they battle an unseen dark force - something that will take the viewer to an intersection of life and death. The film draws from good selections on death, guilt, and shadows that haunt us from the Garuda Purana and Vaitarani River mythos. Using found-footage techniques and cinéma vérité, we believe this will recognise an unsettling sense of unsettling and unrefined reality, which appears so real.

In late June 2025, the first-look poster was released, and it made waves on the internet and in the cinematic world. It clearly states, "Inspired by a Real Event," and has a creepy tagline, "What the cameras saw...You will also see this year." The poster intends to create instinctive vibes and curiosity. The image appears to feature Rashmi Gautam with Rudra Pradeep, Rama Rao Jadhav, Santosh Nandivada, a couple of kids, and a piece of bizarre, creepy visual experience.

There is no set release date, but the film's concept is unique, and the real-event inspiration will make it a must-see for horror or thriller fans. Vaitarani promises scares but so much more, with one gripping story containing mystery, suspense, and realism. With a capable cast, brilliant concept and execution, it's looking to be a leading contender in Telugu & Hindi horror cinema.
