Synopsis

"Veendum Chalikkunna Chakram" is a 1984 Malayalam melodrama. Starring Mammootty, Shankar, Menaka and Aruna. The film tracks Pramila, whose mother reveals a secret that she was married twice, and abandoned both times. Later, Pramila falls in love with a man, Jose, only to discover he’s her brother. Four college buddies: Prameela, Meera, Jose and Vinayan – who live together in a hostel and become inseparable. Prameela is special because she has a locket with a photo of her father, whom she’s never met. She falls for Jose, he likes her back, but Vinayan secretly likes Prameela. Meera, their other friend, secretly adores Jose. The four experience many joyful moments together, becoming closer as they confront life’s daily struggles, and find love. Their world is turned upside down when a surprising secret comes out. Jose is, in reality, Prameela’s long-lost brother. This breakthrough occurs when Jose’s father glimpses the image in Prameela’s locket and identifies her. Everyone’s heartbroken and confused, particularly Prameela and Jose. That’s why Prameela and Jose can no longer be lovers. Ultimately, they discover new ways to keep in touch, Prameela discovers love with Vinayan, and Meera supports Jose. It’s a story of friendship, family secrets, and learning to face life’s hard changes with hope and bravery. "Veendum Chalikkunna Chakram" wonderfully explores the emotional depths of friendship, love and family secrets. Its tender depiction of painful connections, and surprising realities captivates the viewer. The musical score is well, that just puts icing on the cake of this heartbreaking but unforgettable story’s journey.
