"Velvet Nagaram" is a 2020 Tamil psychological thriller film written and directed by Manojkumar Natarajan in his directorial debut. The movie has Varalaxmi Sarathkumar playing the lead role, with Kasthuri Shankar, Ramesh Thilak, and Arjai in supporting roles. The movie is produced by Arun Karthik's Makers Studios and has music by Achu Rajamani and Saran Raghavan.
It traces the journey of Usha, a fearless and strong-willed journalist who goes on to uncover the truth behind the mysterious death of an actress. She soon discovers that the case is much more complicated than it seems. Influential people are involved, and they will go to any extent to suppress the truth.
She disregards all the threats that come her way and pursues the clues to a series of stunning revelations. But this quest for justice soon becomes a game of death, and Usha is the target. The threat grows with every step, and she finds herself caught in a web of lies, deceit, and violence.
At the same time, one case cracking individual is Gowri who had every detail of this case played in the case. But then, there were some criminals present around Michael and the gang, and Usha needed to hurry things up because Michael's gang was getting punctual.
"Velvet Nagaram" is a thrilling suspense action film with twists in the plot that can leave one utterly speechless. The narrative of the film is all about power, corruption, and the danger of exposing concealed truths. Varalaxmi Sarathkumar's performance, gripping storyline, and a rapid-fire storyline make the film keep viewers hooked until the very end.
Though "Velvet Nagaram" had mixed to negative reviews upon its theatrical release on 6th March 2020, it is an entertaining thriller for fans of investigative dramas. Now available to stream on Amazon Prime Video, it is a suspenseful watch for the genre's fans.
