Vetri (1984)

S. A. Chandrasekhar’s directional ”Vetri” is a 1984 action film. It stars Vijayakanth, Viji, Raja, Anuradha and Vijay. His buddy Ramu toys with him by duping him into taking on a risky dare, to kill their professor, for Ramu’s reasons. Vijay, a rash bet-loving student, mercilessly imprisons a girl named Shanti in a guest house for three days to triumph in a challenge with his friend Arun. As retribution for the prank, Professor Ramanajam expels Arun. Later, the same professor rapes another student, Lalitha, who slits her own throat in despair. Appusami, Lalitha’s brother, seeks revenge and requests his friend Vijay to murder the professor. Vijay visits Ramanajam’s abode, but instead of killing him, he dupes the professor into faking his death. Unknown to Vijay, his friend Arun overhears the revenge plan and clandestinely slays the professor for real. The police nab Vijay for the killing.
