"Yennai Arindhaal" (2015) is an action thriller movie directed and written by Gautham Vasudev Menon. The film features Ajith Kumar, Trisha Krishnan, Anushka Shetty, and Arun Vijay. Being the third and last police film in Menon's police trilogy, it revolves around a retired police officer who has to safeguard his stepdaughter from a notorious foe from his past.

The film starts in 2015 when Thenmozhi (Anushka Shetty) encounters a quiet and enigmatic man named Sathyadev (Ajith Kumar) on a flight from Boston to Chennai. She encounters him again the following day, and he rescues her from an attempt at kidnapping by gangster Victor. The movie turns back to Sathyadev's past and discovers that he became a police officer after witnessing the murder of his father. In 2002, he assists gangster Victor (Arun Vijay) in eloping with his girlfriend, Lisa (Parvathy Nair), only to subsequently reveal himself as an undercover IPS officer. Victor renounces him after murdering a smuggler of organs. Two years later, Sathyadev meets and falls in love with Hemanika (Trisha Krishnan), a classical dancer and single parent. Hemanika is murdered on the eve of their wedding. Sathyadev murders a rival gangster in retaliation but discovers Victor as the actual killer. He leaves the police force and adopts Hemanika's daughter, Isha, while on the move in India in hiding.

Four years later, Sathyadev returns to Chennai and discovers that Victor is operating an organ trafficking racket and is going to kidnap Thenmozhi. Reinstated in the police, Sathyadev goes to Boston and brings Thenmozhi back home to live with him and Isha. Victor kidnaps Isha, and Sathyadev has to fight back. In the last confrontation, Sathyadev kills Lisa and severely injures Victor after discovering he was responsible for the killing of Hemanika. He saves Isha and finds peace once again in his life. Thenmozhi reunites with them, and Sathyadev drops hints about starting a fresh new life with her.

"Yennai Arindhaal" provides a blend of emotional depth, action, and style. Ajith Kumar gives a robust and composed performance as the nuanced cop Sathyadev. Arun Vijay is impressive as the intense and vibrant villain. Gautham Menon brings together romance, loss, and vengeance into a well-directed story with soulful music by Harris Jayaraj.
