96th Academy Awards 2024: The Process Of Sorting The Official Entry Of Oscar Begins.

The process of sending the official entry from India to the 96th Oscar Awards ceremony to be held next year has started. The work of sending a film on behalf of the country for the ceremony is done by the Federation of all the organizations active in the country ie Film Federation of India related to film production. All those films will be eligible for the films selected for this time, which have been or are to be screened in theatres from 1 December 2022 to 31 October 2023.

The 96th Academy Awards ceremony, also known as the Oscar Awards ceremony. It is to be held on March 10 next year. Most of the awards in these award ceremonies are given to films released in the US. However, for films released in other countries, these award ceremonies also have a special category, Best Foreign Film, which has now been renamed Best Foreign Language Film. The official entry sent from India in this category is selected by the Film Federation of India (FFI).

The process of inviting entries from producers willing to send films under this category to the Oscars has already begun. This process, which started on August 15, will continue till September 25. After this, from September 15 to September 25, the jury constituted by the Federation will watch these films in Chennai. Which film will be sent from India to next year's Oscar Awards ceremony, it will be announced on 26 September.

According to Film Federation of India President Ravi Kottarakara, the name of the proposed jury and its chairman to select the film to be sent to the Oscars will be announced soon. He says, 'We are proud that Indian films have been leaving their mark on various platforms of the world. Last year's films 'RRR' and 'The Elephant Whisperers' also won Oscars. For whatever film will be sent this year, such people will be included in the jury who have proper information and knowledge to choose the best film.

For any film sent from India to the Oscars, it is necessary that it must have been screened from 1 December 2022 to 31 October 2023. The public exhibition of the film must have taken place in some commercial cinema hall for at least one continuous day for seven days. Applying filmmakers can only be Indian in origin who hold an Indian passport. The condition for these films is that at least 60 percent of their dialogues should be in the local language.
