Janhvi Kapoor recently in a podcast with Raj Shamani spoke about a traumatic experience that she went through due to which, in that phase of her life she consumed alcohol frequently . However, her remarks were widely misinterpreted as an indication to her alcohol addiction. The actor clarified that it was for alcohol awareness in her statement clarifying she was never addicted to the vice.
The actress shared a post from Off The Rocks and Amaha in which it read, We at Off The Rocks & Amaha have noticed certain media pages have misinterpreted a content associated with this initiative and it is deeply concerning for Janhvi Kapoor.
The statement had further stated that Janhvi Kapoor is a caregiver and ally and not someone who has had a personal experience of addiction or dependency on alcohol. Such misinterpretations not only diminish her role but also undermines by being disrespectful towards her and those who are actually battling addiction. It is not fair to interpret and create a controversy without knowing the facts and to those supporting to them, their efforts to lend a healing hand to the critical problem is misleading information .
The statement had further urged the media houses, digital platforms and the individuals who report on such sensitive matters that adding misinformation in this space is harmful , irresponsible and disrespectful to the community that aims to support.
During the podcast with Raj Sharma, Janhvi Kapoor had said she was not addicted or she was being abused by alcohol or she was abusing alcohol, but she was drinking alcohol frequent and this was due to the very traumatic experience she went through in her life. She just felt the need to drink but never got drunk. Janhvi sated she became aware of its impact over time and what it was doing to her body, or how she felt when she woke up .
