Following the terror attack at Pahalgam, the upcoming film Abir Gulaal starring Pakistani actor Fawad Khan faces a boycott. The film starring Fawad Khan alongside Vaani Kapoor has already been a centre of controversy ever since the first teaser was released in April 2025. The backlash on the release of the film has intensified following the terror attack on innocent tourists in Pahalgam. The film drew criticism due to the star cast of Pakistani Actor Fawad Khan.



Controversy Erupts Over Abir Gulaal


Ashoke Pandit the President of the Indian Film and Television Directors’ Association, voiced strong objections to the release of the film. He said the terror attack is an act of war against our nation. He said these attacks have been going on for several years and we as a federation have with folded hands not worked with Pakistani actors. Ashoke also criticised the actors and went on to say that people from our country go to London or Dubai to perform with Pakistani artists. He condemned the act and said ‘Woh  Bandook se maar Rahe Hain, aur hum Bat Ball Ke Saath khel rahe hai.’ Ashoke enraged stated that people will come on the streets to fight for justice and will attack the artists or singers who are dealing with Pakistan.   He issued a warning that anyone working with Pakistani actors will be boycotted from the film industry.


B N Tiwari, President of the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE), took a firm stance on the film Abir Gulaal’s release in India.  Action will be taken against the makers if the film is released.  Meanwhile, internet users have boycotted the film Abir Gulaal, directed by Aarti S Bagdi which was scheduled to release on May 9th 2025.
