The complaint that was filed at the Shivaji Police Station triggered off an investigation against the builder and film producer Avinash Jadhav. Varsha Usgaonkar, Mrinalini Subhash Jambhale and few other investors have been cheated by the accused Avinash Jadhav. The Police have launched an investigation in the alleged Rs. 47 lakhs fraud that involved the actors.
Varsha Usgaonkar entangled in the investment scam
According to the reports, the complaint was lodged at the Police Station by Mrinalini Subhash Jambhale who stated that Avinash Jadhav was only a professional acquaintance . She alleged that Jadhav had introduced himself as a builder and a film producer . He convinced her to invest in a construction property in Dombivili.
He had further claimed and assured the investors that the project would yield them lucrative returns and the invested amounts would be returned to them within a year. Trusting his word, Mrinalini , Varsha and three other individuals invested collectively around Rs. 47 lakhs in the project.The payment to him was reportedly made through cheques and online bank transfers after Jadhav had promised them a significant profit on their money invested with him. ‘
Initially the small group of investors did receive the promise returns but Jadhav had paid only around R. 4.52 lakhs as a part of the profits. But later the payments had stopped raising concerns among the investors.
The accused, Avinash Jadhav allegedly became unreachable.
Mrinalini alleged that when she tried to contact Jadhav for her pending returns and the prinicipal investment, he was difficult to reach out to . They alleged that Jadhav changed his mobile and contact numbers and his address, which made the investors difficult to locate or reach him. When had managed to trace him in Dombivili and demand their money back, he is said to have issued threats.
Authorities have filed a case under section 42o for cheating and 506 for criminal intimidation by the Indian Penal Code.
The Assistant Police Inspector is now examining the financial transactions and attempting to trace Jadhav as the probe continues.
