Ahead Of Sitaare Zameen Par’s Release Aamir Khan Defends Theatrical Releases Over OTT Releases
The actor Aamir Khan is awaiting the release of his upcoming film ‘Sitaare Zameen Par.’ The actor has opposed the idea of OTT releases because he believes that this might hurt the theatre’s business. He thinks good films deserve the cinema, and he also insisted that OTT platforms cannot fix a bad film.
The Bollywood’s finest actor and filmmaker, Aamir Khan, is standing firmly on his belief in the power of cinema halls. His upcoming film ‘Sitaare Zameen Par’ will be released in theatres in a span of a few days. The actor has no plans to release it on any kind of OTT platform.
Theatres vs OTT: Aamir’s Clear Vision
In a conversation with News18 Showsha, the actor spoke about why his upcoming film is truly for the theatres and how OTT might hurt the theatre’s business. The actor said, ‘I do not know any kind of business where you offer a product, and if someone doesn’t purchase it, you tell them, don’t worry, I’ll drop it at your house for free in eight weeks. ' It doesn’t make sense to me. That’s the reason why many films aren’t doing well in theatres. I believe in theatres. I believe in my audience. If you make a good film, people will definitely come to watch it on the big screen.’
Also, the actor spoke about his film ‘Laal Singh Chaddha,’ which received certain praise on OTT instead of the theatres. He said, ‘If someone doesn’t enjoy a film in theatres, they won’t suddenly like it at home. Your opinions about the film don’t change just because of the medium in which you watch it.

The upcoming film Sitaare Zameen Par is a sports comedy-drama directed by R.S. Prasanna. It is produced by Aparna Purohit and Aamir Khan. The film stars Aamir Khan and Genelia Deshmukh in key roles. Also, the film marks the debut of various aspiring stars, namely Gopi Krishna Varma, Naman Mishra, Simran Mangeshkar, Ayush Bhansali, Ashish Pendse and Rishi Shahani. The makers will release the film in theatres on 20th June, 2025.
