Criticism of Music Industry Practices

The association broadened its critique to include Indian music companies and performers, denouncing their Partnerships with Pakistani artists during ongoing cross-border tensions. AICWA urged the music industry to prioritise national pride over commercial gains, stating that such associations disrespect the sentiments of the country.

Controversy Over ‘Abir Gulaal’

The upcoming film Abir Gulaal, featuring Pakistani actor Fawad Khan, drew sharp criticism from AICWA, which called the casting decision insensitive to the sacrifices made by Indian soldiers, particularly after the terror attacks like Pulwama in 2019.

‘Nation First’ Principle

AICWA concluded its statement with a strong appeal to the Indian entertainment industry, urging filmmakers and artists to prioritise the country’s interests over personal or artistic freedoms. It stated that those who insult the nation under the guise of freedom of speech should not be allowed to work in Indian cinema.

Operation Sindoor Praised

Entertainment industry stars such as Akshay Kumar, Kangana Ranaut, Anupam Kher, Chiranjeevi and Alia Bhatt expressed their support for the Indian Armed Forces following the success of Operation Sindoor, a mission that targeted terror camps in several cities of Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu & Kashmir.
