Anant Mahadevan To Make A Film On Prabhavati Amma

For the uninitiated, Prabhavati Amma fought a tough battle for justice when her son for tortued to death in custody by two policemen. First time in the history of Indian Judiciary, the cops were sentenced to death, all because Amma never gave up the fight. Marathi filmmaker-actor Anant Mahadevan will be making a film titled ‘Mai Ghat’ documenting her 13 yearlong struggle for justice.

 

National Award wining Marathi actress Usha Jadhav will play the lead role of Prabhavati Amma in the film Mai Ghat. Director Anant Mahadevan said he wants to showcase his film on the global platform as well as in film festivals like London, Toronto, Venice and Busan. The film is slated to have a theatrical release in India by July-August.
