Anupam Kher Returns To Bengali Film Production After 26 Years With A Heartwarming Love Story

Veteran actor Anupam Kher has made a remarkable return to Bengali Cinema as the producer. He unveiled his latest production, Shuru Theke Shuru after an impressive 26 years. 


Directed by debutant Shamik Banerjee, the emotionally rich romantic drama starring Rahul Bose, Paoli and Tota Roy Chowdhury in the lead roles, the film’s launch on Friday turned out to be a celebration of new beginnings for the veteran actor producer.  The launch saw many new members of the cast, crew and several distinguished guests from the Bengali film fraternity.


Anupam Kher expressed his excitement calling the occasion ‘a revolutionary day’ .   


Anupam Kher expressed his excitement on collaborating with the talented artists and the beautiful script that made the project even more special for him. He revealed that he has received complete support for the film’s shooting from West Bengal’s leadership saying the locations included that of the heritage buildings and those would be available whenever he required for the shoot.




Directed by Shamik Banerjee, he had first pitched the story to Kher several years ago. Rather than rushing into production, Kher encouraged him to be patient and refine his screenplay until he was ready for direction.  The filmmaker gave credit to the veteran star for his faith and guidance as it is one of the major projects that has finally come to life after many years of planning.


The event was well attended by prominent personalities that included Roopa Ganguly, music composer Jeet Ganguly. Both of them have described the film as a fresh beginning for the Bengali Cinema.  He also expressed his desire to cast Roopa Ganguly in his new venture.


The lead actors Rahul Bose, Paoli Dam and Tota Roy Chowdhury also have shared their enthusiasm describing the experience of Shuru Theke Shure as most relatable, heartwarming and emotionally charged love story.  The celebration continued with the cast, crew and their family members cutting the cake to symbolise not only the launch of the film but also to the new beginnings for an exciting new cinematic journey.
