Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap, known for his bold takes and offbeat cinema, has once again made headlines by targeting music giant T-Series. In a recent interview with The Juggernaut, Kashyap alleged that it does not value true artists and only invests in star-driven content.

Kashyap Accuses T-Series of Neglecting True Artistry

Kashyap, known for cult classics like Dev D and Gangs of Wasseypur, claimed that while the music of these films remains popular even today, he was paid very little for them. Taking a sarcastic dig, he said, ‘If Bhushan Kumar isn’t buying the music, then it’s probably good music.’

He further criticized the label for promoting music based on star power rather than quality. Kashyap said, ‘They don’t pay for good music. They pay according to the actors attached to it.’ Referring to Bombay Velvet, he noted that despite the music being poorly received, he earned more from it due to the film’s big-budget cast.

His comments have sparked a fresh conversation in the industry about the economics of music rights and how independent filmmakers and musicians often get sidelined in favor of celebrity-driven marketing. T-Series has not yet responded to the allegations.
