Renowned Assamese singer Zubeen Garg has died at the age of 52 after a tragic scuba diving accident in Singapore. The beloved artist, who was in the city for the 4th North East India Festival, reportedly experienced breathing difficulties during the dive.


Despite receiving CPR and being rushed to Singapore General Hospital, he could not be revived.


Best known nationwide for his hit song Ya Ali from Gangster, Zubeen enjoyed an illustrious career spanning over three decades. He sang in multiple languages, acted in films, and became a cultural icon for Assam.


His sudden demise has shocked the music world. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and several leaders paid tribute, calling him an irreplaceable figure in the state’s cultural heritage. Fans across India are mourning the loss of a voice that defined an era.
