The much-anticipated sequel Awarapan 2 starring Emraan Hashmi and Disha Patani had generated quite a significant buzz on the platforms like BookMyShow and Instagram.  The sequel is shaping up to be one of t he biggest romantic musical releases of the year and is shifted from its earlier April release to the Independence Day weekend in August 2026.

The makers have finalised the Independence Day slot after evaluating the multiple release options this year. Positioning as an intense love story, the film has a strong musical backbone.  It aims to recreate the emotional moment and the depth with intensity and have a soulful appeal to the masses which went on to become a cult favourite for the Awarapan Part 1. 

Fans have also expected Emraan Hashmi to reprise his iconic role in the film as Shivam which will further add nostalgia to the film’s narrative and storytelling. 

Awarapan 2 to wrap by April 2026. 

Directed by Nitin Kakkar, Awarapan 2 blends with nostalgia of a contemporary love story that promises an emotional and musical cinematic experience. Fans have been eagerly awaiting its release. Currently in production, Awarapan 2 is on the track and is ready for its festive release scheduling during the tight spot at the Independence Day weekend which is a strategic choice made by the makers to give it a wider audience and reach out to more by taking advantage of the long weekend holiday. 

The original Awarapan Part 1 earned a cult following over the years especially for its music that will continue its legacy in Part 2 as the sequel is featuring with versions of two popular tracks from the original album.  The musical score is expected to be the major highlight of the Awarapan 2.
