Basil Joseph Shuts Down Casting Rumours Shaktimaan Is ONLY Ranveer Singh

Filmmaker Basil Joseph has now settled the speculation surrounding the cast of the much-anticipated Shaktimaan reboot, currently in pre-production. Back in that announcement a few weeks ago, that same director of Minnal Murali had claimed that Ranveer Singh was the stand-out choice for the legendary superhero role.

Shaktimaan does not preclude Ranveer Singh. No one could’ve been out in negotiations this whole time,” Basil said, in a defence against a growing wave of speculation on Twitter. Reports had suggested that other marquee names were being courted, which the director attributed to misinformed speculation.

The multi-starrer project, which was to be multilingual like the original, was to be mounted on a large scale and produced by Sony Pictures International Productions in association with Mukesh Khanna’s own Bheeshm International and is still at the scripting stage. Joseph, whose debut feature attracted critical accolades and global fame for helming the Malayalam-language superhero flick Minnal Murali, was brought on in 2024 to write the Hindi adaptation of Shaktimaan.

Ranveer Singh is set to play Shaktimaan in a new film, bringing a fresh, bold, and energetic interpretation to the iconic character. This highly anticipated movie is expected to be one of the biggest superhero films in Indian cinema.
