The controversy surrounding Don 3 has further intensified after the Federation of Western India Cine Employees has issued a non-cooperative directive against the superstar Ranveer Singh. Following his abruptly withdrawing from the film Don 3. The decision was addressed at the FWICE (Federation of Western India Cine Employees). The Chief Advisor Ashoke Pandit, the President Birendra Nath Tiwari and the General Secretary Ashok Dubey addressed after filmmaker Farhan Akhtar lodged a formal complaint with the Indian Film & Television Director’s Association that Ranveer Singh had exited Don 3 just three weeks before the production unit was to schedule its shooting. Ashoke Pandit revealed that both Farhan Akhtar and the producer of the film Ritesh Sidhwani presented their case before the association.
Highlighting the wider impact on the industry due to the decision of the FWICE
FWICE had repeatedly attempted to contact Ranveer Singh and obtain his version of the events. However, after several reminders, the actor reportedly did not appear before the governing body of FWICE. They instead received a communication questioning the federations’ jurisdiction in the said matter. Ashoke Pandit expressed that both Farhan Akhtar and producer Ritesh Sidhwani presented their case before the association, detailing the financial and logistical impact that has created due to the actor Ranveer Singh’s departure from Don 3.
Highlighting the wider impact on the industry, Birendra Nath Tiwari emphasized that the sudden halt in the major film affects not only the film producer and the crew but also several workers associated with the project. He also stressed that no individual regardless of the stardom and fame they have achieved is above the industry’s regulations.
Due to the exit of the actor, FWICE as a result has instructed its members, directors, cinematographers, technicians, spot boys, light men and other workers involved in the film’s sets not to collaborate with Ranveer Singh until the dispute is resolved.
Farhan Akhtar has sought 45 crores in compensation from actor Ranveer Singh for the losses incurred, claiming the amount reflects audited expenditure. Despite the dispute, FWICE has expressed hope for an amicable resolution from both the parties involved stating that Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani , Ranveer Singh and the concerned industry bodies should remain open to discussion which should be aimed at reaching out to a mutually acceptable settlement.
