Diljit Dosanjh is all set to start work on the biopic of slain Punjabi singer and cult figure Chamkila. The actor had earlier this month posted some pictures of the sound recording of the film with composer A R Rahman, apparently indicating the start of work on the project.

Imtiaz Ali is working on the casting of the film and has managed to bring in actors from Punjab.

The filmmaker had earlier said that he had planned to start shooting for the film in September but now the film will finally go on the floor in the second week of November. Shooting will begin in a film studio from Mumbai and not with live locations in Punjab as many belief.

Industry people feel that since Punjabi singer Chamkila was shot dead like Sidhu Moosewala, it is likely that people will draw parallels between his stories. Perhaps this is the reason why Imtiaz Ali and the makers of the film have not made an official announcement about the shooting of the film.

Amar Singh Chamkila was a cult figure even when he was performing with his band in packed houses across Punjab. Unfortunately, Chamkila, along with his wife and two other members of his band, were murdered in 1988. The murder case is still unsolved.
