Ekta Kapoor Breaks Silence After ALTT Ban, Says She Cut Ties In 2021

The Indian government recently took strict action against OTT platforms airing obscene and vulgar content. Among the 25 platforms banned was ALTT, formerly known as ALT Balaji, co-founded by TV czarina.

Ekta clarifies she’s no longer linked to banned OTT platform

In a strongly worded post shared on her Instagram, Ekta Kapoor clarified that she has had no association with ALTT since June 2021. Reacting to news headlines linking her with the banned platform, she stated, 'Contrary to media reports, Miss Ekta Kapoor and Mrs. Shobha Kapoor are not associated with ALTT in any way. Any allegations to the contrary are denied.'

She also urged the media to verify facts before publishing and requested responsible reporting. Ekta, daughter of veteran actor Jeetendra, has often been in the spotlight for pushing boundaries in digital content through her platforms.

Govt bans 25 OTTs including ALTT, Ekta distances herself

The ban on ALTT comes as part of a wider government crackdown on OTT platforms distributing explicit and objectionable material. Ekta’s statement clears her stance, distancing herself from any creative or operational control over ALTT post-2021.

The full list of banned apps includes names like ULLU, Big Shots, MoodX, and Feneo.
