Filmmaker Subhash Ghai in his teaser project on social media has asked the audience and the fans of Gen-Z whether they would like the film with a fresh young cast or bring back the original stars of Taal 1.

The script is in progress and the team is currently evaluation if it’s the right time to move into production.

The challenges that Ghai may have to face.

The casting challenge is one that the filmmaker may face to find the perfect and pure and fresh casting which is his top priority. He wants it similar to the youthful energy that Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Akshaye Khanna and Anil Kapoor carried off in the original in 1999.

However, for now there is no official confirmation on whether the original star cast will return for the sequel.  Subhash Ghai is open to exploring various options and recently praised the youthful pair of Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda.

Music for the Taal was earlier composed by A. R. Rahman for the iconic soundtrack but for now, no official announcement has been made regarding the music for the sequel.

Filmmaker Subhash Ghai recently revisited the 1999 classic Taal

The filmmaker recalled how the legendary Hollywood critic Roger Ebert had praised the innocence and the pure entertainment and questioned if Taal 2 could also succeed in today’s modern heavy action octane cinema landscape that he would prefer to focus on deep relationships and pure music rather than make a film that is conflict driven as the current trend is.

He further clarified that he only intends to act as a producer for the potential sequel and is looking to hand over the directorial reins to young and talented Indian director who could bring in the fresh perspective while maintaining its original soulful without losing its essence.
