The couple’s advocate Manzoor Hussain had presented their application for an interim bail on medical ground . The interim bail is usually granted before the court session ends, when both individuals can be released for a short period to receive the medical treatment but it depends on the court’s order.

The court did not grant the bail and has ordered to keep them in the judicial custody and later be sent to the Central Jail in Udaipur.

Vikram and his wife Shwetambari were arrested on December 7th in Mumbai and taken to Udaipur by the police. They were produced before the court the following day and sent to remand for seven days in police custody. The couple have been accused of cheating and defrauding an Udaipur based Dr. Ajay Murdia , the founder of Indira Group of Companies , of 30 Crore.

Doctor Murdia the owner of Indira IVF Hospital wanted to make a biopic on his late wife and he was allegedly promised by the filmmaker Vikram Bhatt an earning of Rs. 200 crore. But nothing had materialized after which Dr. Ajay had filed a complaint at the Udaipur Police station where he registered a case of cheating and other offense. The accused has siphoned off more than 30 crore from the doctor with a false hope and assurance of producing the film and profits. Police also stated that the fraud was committed through fake bills generated by Vikram Bhatt.
