The recently held Asian Academy Creative Awards 2021, saw performers win from various platforms within the Asian-Pacific region. Actress Konkona Sen Sharma took home the best actress in a leading role for the anthology Ajeeb Daastaans. Bollywood actor Manoj Bajpayee won the best actor award for The Family Man 2. Amruta Subhash won the best actress in supporting role for her portrayal as Lilly in Bombay Begums. She expressed her happiness on Twitter writing, “My First International Award! Thank you to my team.”

 

Amazon original series ‘Mirzapur’ season two won in the best original programme by a streamer/OTT category. It’s creator Puneet Krishna dedicated the award to actor Bramhaswaroop Mishra who was found dead recently and wrote, “A heartfelt thanks to every actor and every person working extremely hard behind the camera to make Mirzapur a memorable viewing experience for the audiences. Thank you, Asian Academy Creative Awards, for recognizing our efforts. “We would like to dedicate this award to Brahma Mishra, one of the most talented actors that we have worked with, and only wish that he was here to share this moment with us.” Filmmaker Hansal Mehta won best drama series and best direction for his series Scam 1992 while Naseeruddin Shah won best supporting actor for Amazon Prime Video series ‘Bandish Bandits’. 

 

Filmmaker Umesh Bist took home two awards that included the best original screenplay and the best sound awards for the Sanya Malhotra starrer Pagglait.
