In recent years, television has taken this tradition further. While radio still holds its charm, TV channels now present their own versions of Mahishasuramardini, blending performance, narrative, and visuals. This year, Star Jalsha has released the first promo for its Mahalaya special, and it’s already creating buzz.

The promo begins with vultures perched over a barren desert, symbolizing destruction and chaos. Suddenly, the feet of Goddess Durga, adorned with a lotus, touch the ground. Miraculously, the land transforms green fields replace the dry soil. The goddess arrives on an elephant, as per this year’s calendar, followed by a lion’s roar and Lakshmi’s owl settling on a branch.

One of the most nostalgic moments in the teaser is the echo of Birendra Krishna Bhadra’s iconic chant, followed by the sacred verse 'Matrirupena Sansthita'. The entire promo is crafted using artificial intelligence animation, adding a modern touch to timeless devotion. However, the face of the goddess remains unrevealed — keeping viewers guessing about who will portray her this year.
